Hello! We are Beril, Onur and Mehmet – a master’s and two undergraduate students at Hacettepe University, Department of Physical Education and Sport, Ankara, Turkiye. We took part in the PhysEd-Academy Student Mobility Program involving pre-service teachers, teachers and teacher educators from Norway, Spain, Slovenia, Turkey, Ireland, Luxembourg and Sweden.
The main goal of the PhysEd-Academy Project is to facilitate radical change in physical education by developing sustainable and international collaboration between teacher educators, pre-service teachers and in-service teachers, resulting in equitable outcomes for school children and young people. For this purpose, all partners from different countries came together face-to-face or online for 5 days to discuss and experience different approaches and practices in Ankara, Turkiye. The meeting was focused on the topic of student mobility. It involved a variety of activities such as workshops, presentations, and discussions which centered around different approaches to physical education teacher education. Through the workshops, we gained a better understanding of how knowledge can be applied in practice. Furthermore, we formed new friendships and have managed to maintain contact with the friends we made from different countries. We also had a lot of fun together engaging in social activities.
The positive energy of the environment we experienced during our mobility program inspired us to create a new student community in Hacettepe University. Since then, we regularly come together to discuss various topics related to physical education and sports, while also supporting each other.
The PhysEd-Academy project has not only increased our knowledge but also provided us with the opportunity to observe various practices and approaches around the globe. The teacher educators who have valuable knowledge in their field and are open to sharing have inspired us on how we can follow a path for our future. This has been very meaningful and valuable for us. We are grateful to be a part of this project and thankful for this opportunity.
Best,
Beril, Onur and Mehmet
